Congratulations to the four Abrams Scholars from the REdesign Lab, who have completed their year of sponsored independent research. The Abrams Scholarship program in the UNC-CH/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) provides stipends to top BME undergraduate student researchers to conduct independent research in BME and BME-affiliated labs. Their research culminates in May when the scholars deliver presentations to the BME department on their progress and findings. The 2019-2020 Abrams Scholars from the REdesign Lab and their presentation titles are as follows:
Amber Detwiler – Comparing Dermal Fibroblast Donor Age and Time in Culture for In Vitro Hydrogel-Based Skin Graft Modeling
Ariana Frey –Engineering a Three-Dimensional In Vitro Platform for Mast Cell Maturation
Cody Helm – Engineering a Nanocarrier Drug Delivery Model to Target Mast Cells in an Extracellular Matrix Hydrogel
Isabel Mayo – Microfabrication of a Heart-on-a-Chip Platform for High-Throughput Screening
We thank the Abrams Scholar program and the UNC-CH/NCSU Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering for funding these great students throughout the 2019-2020 school year. Great work!
