REdesign Lab Members Present at 2019 CMI Summit

On August 26th, several REdesign Lab members participated in the 2019 Comparative Medicine Institute (CMI) Annual Research & Innovation Summit at Talley Student Union. The REdesign Lab had three Summer Interdisciplinary Research Initiative (SIRI) students, funded graciously by the CMI, who presented their work in the poster session during lunch. These students also presented their research at the 18th NC State University Annual Summer Undergraduate Research and Creativity Symposium on August 1st. The SIRI students and their projects were:

Amber Detwiler – “Feeling Out” the Niche for Hair Follicle Development in Bioengineered Skin Grafts (REdesign mentor: Lewis Gaffney)

Cody Helm (3rd place award) – Nanocarrier Optimization for Mast Cell-Targeting Drug Delivery in an Enhanced Permeability and Retention (EPR) Model (REdesign mentor: Emily Ozpinar)

Jack SchultzImproving Porcine Oviduct Epithelial Cell Culture Using Porcine Oviduct Extracellular Matrix (REdesign mentor: Camilo Mora-Navarro)

Ph.D. candidate Emily Ozpinar and undergraduate student Ariana Frey were selected to present their 2018 SIRI project and share how this project transformed over the 2018-2019 school year.

Postdoctoral fellow Dr. Camilo Mora-Navarro was invited to be a part of the Associate Member panel and discussed the influence CMI has had on their research career at NCSU.

We thank the CMI for providing funding for our SIRI students! See the CMI’s posting of the event here.
